Giflo’s INOMAX range of high-strength, easy polishing, ferrite and martensite stainless steels with fine grain size and surface hardening.
INOMAX ferritic steels are a combination of all that is good with duplex and austenitic steels and markedly outperform other ‘high-end’ ferritic steels by offering the easy weldability of austenitic stainless and the stress corrosion cracking resistance to chloride of duplex products.
Moreover, Giflo’s Z1100 & Z1300 steels provide another level of mechanical performance whilst retaining impressive elongation and ductility. All this is achieved in a hot-rolled, tempered condition; whilst pickling and skin pass is recommended for the surface condition, there is no requirement for further cold work to achieve high-range mechanical properties.
Additional to INOMAX mechanical property design advantages and production process advantages relative to duplex and austenitic steels, the cost saving from reduced alloying elements alone is significant, e.g. relative savings for mid 2020 stainless pricing was circa~USD1,500/t for 301 & ~USD2,700/t for DX2205.
